Svetlana Kulíšková Ruggiero uses in her textile production the technology of non-woven fabric, Art Protis, which she has been trying to rescued since the 1990s. This technique, born in Brno in the 50s of the 20th century, she began to change from 2010, during her long-term stay in Italy, from the traditional work with the carded wool towards the expression with other textile materials. Today, she uses textile and industrial waste, materials that she tests for its untapped environmental potential. Svetlana creates non-woven fabrics that can be used in fashion or interior design. She combines the old with the new, melting past with the present, the tradition with technology. She sees the interconnection of different cultures as an important part of her work, and believes that sustainability is a reflection of the current lifestyle, a new urgent need. She is also the founder and head of the new clothing hi-school department Ekotextil design at SSUD Brno, dealing with sustainable fashion, and also sewing workshop Brno šije.
